THE SECRET TO HEALING WOUNDS, COMPLETELY

Wounds are a part of life, and can happen from cuts, scrapes, burns or bites. To reduce the risk of infections, proper wound care is essential – but do you know how to properly care for a wound to ensure safe, complete healing?

These are some common facts and fictions relating to wound care.
Know the difference!

Fiction/ Myth Fact
My first aid kit has antiseptic and plasters, that’s enough for wound care. Wounds heal best in a moist environment, as hydration enhances angiogenesis and collagen synthesis, which aids in healing.4 By keeping a wound care hydrogel (like Dermatix® Wound Care) at home, you can properly treat wounds when they happen to accelerate the wound healing process1, 2, 3 and prevent further infection.1
Wounds need to be kept dry. Wounds heal best in an optimal moist environment, as hydration enhances angiogenesis and collagen synthesis, which aids in healing.4
To prevent infections, simply clean the wound and cover it. Cleaning the wound isn’t enough, you also need a wound care treatment (like Dermatix® Wound Care) to form a dynamic barrier on the wound to prevent further infection.1
With proper care, wounds won’t leave scars. Proper wound care can reduce the risk of infections, but depending on the wound, a scar may still appear.
After the wound heals, there’s nothing else that can be done, even if a scar has formed. You can use a clinically proven silicon hydrogel1 scar treatment brand (like Dermatix® Ultra or Dermatix® Ultra Kids) to lighten, flatten and soften5,6,7 scars after the wound has fully healed and the scab has fallen off.
